  • What’s the story behind Solacetree?
    As the co-founder of Solacetree, I, Kate, experienced childhood trauma and depression, which highlighted the importance of emotional well-being. My journey towards mental health, guided by Dr. Albert Chan, inspired the creation of Solacetree. Our mission is to promote supportive attitudes towards mental health and provide accessible, affordable professional support. ​​ Through features like online counselling, self-guided webinars, and a private journal, we strive to create a safe, confidential space for individuals to explore and address their emotional issues. As a team of Christian founders, we are grateful for God's grace and hope Solacetree can be a beacon of comfort and guidance for all who seek it.
  • Where does the name “Solacetree” come from?
    One of our founding members came up with this name during a Bible Study session. Solace means comforting, and we hope this platform can provide you with comfort in times of distress or sadness, strengthen your mind, and support your positive personal growth.
  • What are the services offered by Solacetree?
    Services offered by Solacetree: Chat Consultation: Access licensed psychologists, counselors, and life coaches anytime, anywhere, with services starting from HKD $650 per 60 minutes. Webinars: FREE online courses covering a range of personal growth and mental well-being topics. Journal: Use our FREE journal function to track your daily emotions and share entries with your counsellor if desired.

    We will suggest 1 to 2 suitable counsellors or life coaches who fit your objectives, preferences, and the type of issues you are dealing with.   • Who are the counsellors?
    Our counselors are highly qualified professionals, including licensed clinical psychologists, marriage and family therapists, and certified life coaches. They possess extensive experience and are verified through a stringent vetting process. Check out our counsellors now!
  • How are the counsellors verified?
    Our team ensures that every specialist we bring to the platform is fully licensed and in good standing. Specialists who apply are required to provide proper licensure documentation, proof of identity, and references from other licensed practitioners who have worked with them. We then cross-check their licensure information with their respective state licensing board.
  • Is Solacetree right for me?
    Solacetree is right for you if you're looking to improve your mental well-being and build a positive personal growth. Whenever you feel distress or sadness, or anything that prevents you from achieving your goals, we will be able to help. We also have counsellors who are specialized in specific issues, such as stress, anxiety, relationships, parenting, depression, addictions, eating, sleeping, trauma, anger, family conflicts, self-esteem and more. Solacetree is not the right solution for you if any of the following is true: You have suicidal thoughts You have thoughts of hurting yourself or others You are in an urgent crisis or an emergency situation You have been diagnosed with a severe mental illness, or if you have been advised to be in psychological supervision or psychiatric care
  • How much does it cost?

  • I have signed up. How long until I'm matched with a counsellor?
    It generally takes less than 24 hours to be matched with a counsellor, and on some occasions might take a little longer depending on which qualifications and expertise you prefer. The counsellor would endeavour to reply to any appointment request within 24 hours during normal business days.
  • Can I change my counsellor?
    We advise you to have the same counsellor at least for 2 sessions before changing. You can also request a 15 min video chat as a chemistry meeting.
  • Can I request a specific counsellor?
    Yes, you can! Request needed to be made through contacting our customer service team at or whatsapp at 70759750. Your request will be fulfilled depending on the availability of the counsellor.
  • How do live video sessions work?
    You will have a video session with your counsellor where you can see and talk with each other in a virtual face-to-face setting (Zoom). To talk with your counsellor via video: You will need to request a specific time with the counsellor. After confirming the time with the counsellor, we will email you a Zoom link. At the scheduled time, both you and the counsellor will enter the chat room. Upon acceptance by the host, you will immediately begin video chatting with your counsellor.
  • What if my counsellor is late?
    If the counsellor is late for more than ten minutes without notification, we will give a full refund to you.
  • What if I am late?
    You are able to use the remaining time within the scheduled period. Counsellors are not responsible to extend the period for finishing the session.
  • What if I would like to reschedule my appointment?
    We require all reschedules to be made at least 24 hours before the appointment. Please call or whatsapp us at (852) 70759750 for any reschedule. If rescheduling is requested within 24 hours of the appointment, there will be a HK$50 admin charge. There will be no refund if you cancel or change the appointment within 2 hours before the scheduled time.
  • What if I would like to cancel my appointment?
    We require all changes to be made at least 48 hours before the appointment to receive a full refund. Please note that if the appointment is cancelled within 48 hours, we will reimburse 50% of the payment amount received. If rescheduling is requested within 24 hours of the appointment, there will be a HK$50 admin charge. There will be no refund if you cancel or change the appointment within 2 hours before the scheduled time. Please call or whatsapp us at (852) 70759750 for any cancellation or rescheduling.
  • Is there a minimum time requirement for the appointment?
    To ensure an effective conversation and a better background understanding, the first session should be at least 60 minutes or above. Subsequently, you can request a 30 minutes or above for online session and at least 60 minutes for a face to face session.
  • How will I pay for my Solacetree service?
    Your payments will be charged to a credit card through Stripe, Payme, FPS, or Alipay HK.
  • What is the role of Solacetree?
    The counselling service is provided by independent counsellors who work directly with you. Our mission is to build, maintain, promote, and support a platform that lets you and counsellors communicate effectively, and to facilitate this channel so you can get the most out of your interaction with the counsellors.
  • How is my privacy protected?
    We prioritize your privacy with state-of-the-art security measures, including 256-bit encryption and secure server hosting. All interactions are confidential and compliant with Hong Kong SAR laws. For more information or further questions, please visit our Contact Us page.
  • Can I stay anonymous?
    When you sign up we do not ask you for your full name. You may pick any "nickname" which will identify you in the system. If you choose online counselling (zoom), you can also turn off your camera function and only use voice chatting.
  • I'm a licensed counsellor/life coach. How can I provide services using Solacetree?

  • How do I reset the password on my app?
    You can reset your password by clicking “Forget Password”. A link for resetting password will be sent to the email provided.
